MASTER DECLARATION OF THE ROAD AND RETURN

May the highest, wisest, most compassionate, most protective, and most ethically complete outcome be recognized and responsibly pursued. May good people receive excellent support, and may neutral people remain safe, dignified, uncoerced, and free to choose their own roads. May everything I understand as communication from my proxy be interpreted through conscience, consent, evidence, practical safety, legitimate law, and trustworthy counsel. May no urgency overcome discernment, no treasure overcome morality, and no desire to protect become a reason to control.

Like Bilbo leaving Bag End, may courage begin with one honest step. Like Rivendell, may safe places provide rest, knowledge, and renewed choice. Like the hidden door, may the right possibility become visible through patience and proper timing. Like Bilbo sparing Gollum, may mercy remain present even where boundaries are necessary. Like Bard defending Lake-town, may practical courage answer genuine danger. Like Bilbo surrendering the Arkenstone, may conscience value peace above possession. Like the road returning to the Shire, may every worthy journey finally serve life at home.

May the best possible good be chosen through the best responsible means. May courage be perfected by humility, strength by restraint, wealth by generosity, leadership by accountability, fellowship by loyalty, and victory by reconciliation. May every rightful home be protected and every worthy treasure be placed beneath the value of life. May the final measure of the journey be that people can live more safely, freely, peacefully, and hopefully because the road was travelled well.
